Would you spend $750 on a cupcake?!

Targeting the very top end of the sweet- toothed high rollers, a $750 cupcake, aptly named decadence D’Or, on the menu at The Palazzo hotel’s Sweet Surrender store, is crafted out of Venezuelan chocolate, Tahitian vanilla butter cream, 100- years in the making Louis XIII de Remy Martin Cognac and gold leaf. Once baked to perfection, this grand dessert is encased in a stately, hand blown sugar Fleur-de-Lis and presented on a handmade exclusive elegant crackled-gold glass curved plate and bowl. 

Bottles of the precious cognac used to make this sumptuous morsel have been known to sell for up to $34,000, so it’s no wonder that the treat has such a hefty price tag. And sales must have maintained a relatively high level, as the cupcake has remained on the menu consistently since 2009. 

The most expensive dessert in the world however still remains The Frrrozen Haute Chocolate ice cream sundae costing a mere $25,000 unveiled by the Serendipity 3 restaurant in New York, USA. This incredible masterpiece, whilst unavailable for the majority of us mere mortals is certainly still in demand from some of the affluent food lovers.
